Box Score 2 Tournament WebsiteGRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College baseball team's campaign drew to a close Friday with a pair of losses at the 2015 Midwest Conference Tournament at Pioneer Park.

The Pioneers first lost 11-3 to St. Norbert College, and then fell 8-4 to Cornell College in an elimination game. They concluded the season with an 18-19 record.

In the opener,
Anthony Mack '16,
Ryan Penaflor '15 and
Matt Godinsky '16 all had two hits, with one of Godinsky's a double.

St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead with solo runs in the first and fifth innings. However, the Pioneers erupted for three runs in the bottom of the sixth on Godinsky's two-run double to left and an RBI single through the right side by
Walker Bell '15.

But the Green Knights roared back with five runs in the seventh and two in both the eighth and ninth.

Graham Fisher '16 was the pitcher of record.

Penaflor went 3-for-4 in the second game with a double, while
Matt Hammond '17 had two hits with a homer and
Yuki Kawahara '15 a pair of hits. Bell had a double.

Cornell grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Pioneers scored once in the second on an RBI single to left by
Teague Towner '17 and twice in the third with the aid of Bell's RBI double to center.

Cornell came back with three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh for an 8-3 edge. The Pioneers closed out their scoring in the eighth on Hammond's solo homer to left-center.
