Grinnell women's tennis team stays perfect in MWC with win over Cornell

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's tennis team remained perfect in Midwest Conference play Sunday afternoon, stopping Cornell College 6-3 at 10th Avenue Courts.
 
The Pioneers got out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins at No. 1 by the team of Judith Fan '19 and Amelia Cogan '19 (8-2) and Julia Rumley '16 and Sydney Banach '18 at No. 3 (8-2).
 
In singles, Grinnell won at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots with Virginia Purcell '17 (6-7, 6-3, 10-8) and Megan Jans '19 (7-5, 6-4), as well as at Nos. 5 and 6 with Lily Hamilton '19 (6-2, 6-1) and Anushka Joshi '18 (6-3, 6-0).
 
Grinnell is now 4-0 in the league and 5-2 overall. Cornell fell to 3-1 in the MWC and 4-4 in all matches.
 
The Pioneers will travel to Minnesota next weekend for the ITA Regionals.
