Pioneers wrap up perfect run through MWC play with shutout of Ripon

RIPON, Wis. – The Grinnell College women's tennis team wrapped up an unbeaten run through Midwest Conference play in appropriate fashion Sunday.
 
The Pioneers swept Ripon College 9-0 to finish its league slate with a 9-0 record while moving to 10-1 overall. The Pioneers also extended their winning streak to 10.
 
Grinnell did not surrender a game in doubles play, as the teams of Judith Fan '19-Amelia Cogan '19, Megan Jans '19-Anushka Joshi '18 and Eden Gregory '19-Shannon Hautzinger '18 all won 8-0.
 
The Pioneers finished things off with a sweep in singles play, including a 6-0, 6-0 shutout by Lily Hamilton '19 at No. 4.
 
Three other players gave up just one game each – Fan at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0), Jans at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1) and Hautzinger at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0).
 
Other Grinnell wins came from Joshi at No. 3 (6-3, 6-3) and Gregory at No. 5 (6-3, 6-2).
 
The Pioneers will compete in the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament next weekend in Madison, Wis.
