The Pioneer Women's tennis team wrapped up their spring trip with an 8-1 loss to Carthage.

Coach Andy Hamilton commented, "So far this spring, we have not found our doubles form which we had during the fall season. We'll keep working to find it, because playing winning doubles is important to our success." Â
Minna Montgomery posted the lone Grinnell win in the match, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 6 singles. At No. 5 Lily Hamilton won her first set 7-5, but then fell 6-2, {10-3}. "Through our fall season we gave our opponents trouble at No. 5 and 6 singles," noted Hamilton. "I was happy to see us very competitive in those positions vs. Carthage."

Fan went down 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Grinny Purcell played a strong first set, but fell 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Despite a 6-1, 6-2 score Jans' play was competitive at No. 3 and Joshi produced a strong first set at No. 4 before falling, 6-4, 6-1.
