The Grinnell Pioneer women's tennis team used strong play throughout the lineup to gain two victories over local Iowa Conference foes, Simpson and Central.
In the morning match at Simpson, Grinnell came away with a 9-0 victory by posting convincing wins at all positions.
Then in the afternoon match at Central, a sweep in doubles enabled a 7-2 victory.
Against Central, Grinnell swept doubles play with the teams of Judity Fan/
Amelia Cogan,
Anushka Joshi-
Megan Jans and
Sydney Banach-
Julia Rumley. The Pioneers got singles wins from Fan at No. 1, Cogan at No. 3 and Jans at No. 4.
In the Simpson match, singles wins came from Fan,
Virginia Purcell, Jans,
Anushka Joshi,
Lily Hamilton and Rumley. Doubles winners were the teams of Fan-Cogan, Joshi-Jans and Rumley-Banach.

"Early in spring play, our competition was very stiff. The women stayed focused and worked through the process of getting their games on track. Today's results are good proof that we stayed the course and are hitting our stride at the correct time," noted Coach

On Friday the Pioneers will compete in the Midwest Conference, NCAA automatic qualifying tournament in Madison, WI. Grinnell is the No. 2 see and will take on third seed, St. Norbert. Lake Forest is the top seed and they will face Carroll.
