Successful Pioneer women's tennis season comes to a close

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Grinnell College's successful women's tennis season drew to a close Thursday with a 5-1 loss to Coe College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
 
Amelia Cogan '19 and Judith Fan '19 gave Grinnell its lone win, as the duo knocked off the region's 13th-seeded team in a 9-7 thriller at No. 1 doubles.
 
Grinnell's other doubles teams consisted of Anushka Joshi '18 and Virginia Purcell '17, as well as Sydney Banach '18 and Lily Hamilton '19.
 
The singles lineup consisted of Fan, Purcell, Cogan, Joshi, Hamilton and Banach.
 
Grinnell finished its campaign with a 15-9 record, the seventh-highest victory total in program history.
 
Cogan and Fan each finished with 22 doubles victories this season, which ties for second all-time at Grinnell. Hamilton won 18 singles matches, which ranks 14th.
