GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's tennis squad put together a strong effort in Saturday afternoon's contest with Augustana College before falling 8-1 at 10th Avenue Courts.
 
The Pioneers, 0-1 after the season-opening contest, battled toe-to-toe with the visitors in doubles play, with Anushka Joshi '18 and Megan Jans '19 posting an 8-3 at the No. 2 spot.
 
Amelia Cogan '19 and Judith Fan '19 lost an 8-5 decision at the top spot and Lily Hamilton '19 and Brenda Guan '20 put up a good fight at No. 3 before losing 8-6.
 
The Vikings continued with victories at the six singles spots to improve to 1-0.
 
Grinnell jumps right back into action Sunday with a match against St. Ambrose University in Davenport.
