GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's tennis team captured its second Midwest Conference title in a row and 11th in the past 14 years with a pair of shutouts Saturday at the Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center Field House.

Grinnell blanked both St. Norbert College, the defending MWC Tournament champ, and Ripon College by 9-0 scores to improve to 9-0 in the league and 10-1 overall. The Pioneers have now won 10 matches in a row, dating back to Aug. 26.

Grinnell's 12 league titles are the most of any team in the MWC.

Milica Cvrkota '21 and
Anushka Joshi '18 were four-time winners on the day. Cvrkota won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles against St. Norbert and 6-0, 6-0 against Ripon. She also teamed with
Amelia Cogan '19 to win 8-2 against St. Norbert and 8-0 against Ripon.

Joshi won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles against St. Norbert and 6-0, 6-2 against Ripon. In doubles, she won 8-2 with
Lily Hamilton '19 at No. 3 against St. Norbert and 8-0 at the second spot against Ripon.

Other singles winners against St. Norbert were Cogan (6-1, 6-0),
Ali Hickey '21 (6-0, 6-3),
Abby Nielsen (6-0, 6-0) and Hamilton (6-2, 6-1). Hickey and Nielsen won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Grinnell players surrendered just eight games to Ripon while winning 97. Hickey and Nielsen won 6-0, 6-0 in singles,
Sydney Banach '18 won 6-1, 6-0 and
Brenda Guan '20 won 6-0, 7-5.

Shannon Hautzinger '18 and Banach won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Cogan now has 64 career doubles wins, third-best in Pioneer history and just seven off the record.

Grinnell concludes the regular season Sunday with a home match against Lawrence University. The contest starts at 9 a.m. in the Bear Center.
