ORLANDO, Fla. – The Grinnell College women's tennis team kicked off its 2017 spring campaign Monday, losing 7-2 to regionally-ranked Luther College.
 
Judith Fan '19 had a hand in both Grinnell wins. At No. 1 singles, she won 6-0 in the first set and was up 1-0 in the second before her opponent retired. Fan also teamed up with Amelia Cogan '19 to sail to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
 
Cogan took her opponent to three hard-fought sets at No. 2 singles, and Lily Hamilton '19 and Shanaz Daneshdoost '17 put up a good battle at No. 3 doubles before losing 9-7.
 
Grinnell is now 10-2 on the season and Luther, ranked 19th in the Central Region, is 12-5.
 
The Pioneers take on Calvin College and St. Catherine University on Tuesday.
