GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's tennis team geared up for the Midwest Conference Team Tournament with a pair of 8-1 decisions Saturday at 10th Avenue Courts, and
Amelia Cogan '19 made some history in the process.

The Pioneers defeated both Grand View University and Central College 8-1 to improve to 14-6 on the season. Cogan won two doubles matches with
Judith Fan '19 to boost her season wins total in doubles play to 23, a new all-time best at Grinnell.

Sydney Banach '18 – were a perfect 4-for-4 on the day.

Fan won No. 1 singles matches by scores of 6-3, 6-1 against Grand View and 6-1, 6-1 against Central. She teamed Cogan to win 8-5 against Grand View and 8-0 against Central at No. 1 doubles.

Joshi won 7-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and teamed with
Shanaz Daneshdoost '17 to win 8-3 at No. 2 doubles against Central. She also won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and 9-8 at No. 2 doubles with Daneshdoost '17 against Grand View.

Hamilton won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles versus Central and 6-4, 6-2 against Grand View at the fourth spot. She and Bananch won 8-2 against Central and 8-6 against Grand View at No. 3 doubles.

Banach won 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 at No. 4 singles against Central and 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 against Grand View.

Brenda Guan '20 was Grinnell's other winner, taking a 3-6, 7-5, 11-9 decision at No. 5 singles against Central and 6-0, 6-2 decision against Grand View at No. 6 singles.

The Pioneers compete in the MWC Team Tournament next Thursday in Madison, Wis.
