GRINNELL, Iowa – Saying Grinnell College's women's tennis team dominated the weekend would be an understatement.

The Pioneers rolled up their third shutout of the weekend, wrapping up Midwest Conference play with a 9-0 victory over Monmouth College Sunday in the Bear Center Field House. Grinnell also blanked Knox College and Illinois College this weekend while posting a combined weekend record of 268-15 with a 204-12 mark in singles and 64-3 record in doubles.

Lily Hamilton '19 and
Sara Amano '22 were equally perfect, each going 52-0 between singles and doubles with 6-0, 6-0 singles wins in the three matches and teaming up in doubles with 8-0 victories.

Additionally, Grinnell's win pushed the Pioneers to 8-1 in league play as they extended their mark in MWC action to 28-1 in the last 29 outings. Grinnell won its fifth consecutive match and improved to 9-2, while Monmouth fell to 4-4 in the league and 5-6 in all matches.

Grinnell had shutouts at the Nos. 2, 3, 5 and 6 spots with
Emma Gaydos '22,
Ali Hickey '21, Hamilton and Amano.
Abby Nielsen '21 won 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot and
Isabel Green posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4.

In doubles, Hamilton and Amano won by shutout at No. 3. Nielsen and Gaydos earned an 8-1 victory at No. 1 and Green teamed with
Brenda Guan '20 to win 8-2 at No. 2.

Nielsen moved up to the No. 15 spot on Grinnell's all-time singles wins list with 41 while Hamilton took the No. 15 spot in doubles victories with 48.

Grinnell heads to Madison, Wis., this weekend for the MWC Singles and Doubles Tournament.
