Pioneers put up good fight against nationally-ranked Oberlin

ORLANDO, Fla. - Grinnell College's women's tennis team put up a strong fight against nationally-ranked Oberlin College before losing 7-2 on Wednesday.

Grinnell got wins of 8-4 from the No. 2 doubles team of Ali Hickey '21-Amelia Cogan '19 and via retirement from Abby Nielsen '21 at No. 4 singles. Nearly pulling out a victory was the No. 3 doubles team of Anushka Joshi '18-Brenda Guan '20, who fell 9-8.

Cogan now has 69 career doubles wins, putting her just two off the all-time program lead.

Grinnell is 12-3 overall, while Oberlin - ranked 38th in NCAA Division III and ninth regionally -improved to 9-5.

The Pioneers play Calvin College and New Paltz on Thursday.
