Milica Cvrkota '21 tied the Grinnell College women's tennis season record for singles wins as the Pioneers edged Coe College 5-4 Sunday afternoon.

Cvrkota defeated a regionally-ranked player at No. 1 singles, rallying for a 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 decision for her 25th win of the year. The Pioneers improved to 17-4 with the win, the sixth-most victories in program history.

Also winning in singles were
Abby Nielsen '21 at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1) and
Sydney Banach '18 at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1). In doubles,
Ali Hickey '21 and
Anushka Joshi '18 won 8-6 at No. 2 and
Brenda Guan '20 and Banach teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 3.

In an earlier match featuring two regionally-ranked teams, the No. 19 Pioneers lost 7-2 to No. 16 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Grinnell's wins were by Hickey at No. 2 singles by a 6-3, 6-3 score and Joshi at No. 4 singles by a 6-2, 7-5 margin.

Nielsen and Hickey both have 23 singles wins, tied for fourth in program history, and Hickey's 23 doubles wins rank third.

Joshi moved up Grinnell's career chart in singles (63 wins rank fifth) and doubles (58 wins rank seventh).

The Pioneers take on St. Norbert College Thursday in Madison, Wis., in the Midwest Conference Team Tournament.
