APPLETON, Wis. – Grinnell College's women's tennis team stretched its Midwest Conference winning streak to 22 matches by opening league play Saturday with a pair of shutouts.

Grinnell defeated both Ripon College and Lawrence University 9-0 to extend its league winning streak that has been in play since 2015. In doubles play against Ripon,
Brenda Guan '20 and
Isabel Green '22 teamed up for an 8-0 win at the second spot.
Abby Nielsen '21 and
Emma Gaydos '22 won 8-2 at No. 1, while
Lily Hamilton '19 and
Sara Amano '22 won 8-1 at No. 3.

Singles winners were Nielsen (6-0, 6-4), Gaydos (6-1, 6-3), Green (6-1, 6-2), Hamilton (6-1, 6-1), Guan (6-1, 6-1) and Amano (6-0, 6-1).

Guan and Green won 8-1 in doubles against Lawrence, while Nielsen and Gaydos won 8-2 as did Hamilton and Amano. In singles, winners were Nielsen (6-0, 6-3), Gaydos (6-0, 6-1), Green (6-0, 6-1), Hamilton (6-1, 6-0), Guan (6-2, 6-3) and Amano (6-1, 6-3).

With her two singles wins, Hamilton now has 52 for her career which ranks seventh in program history. The Pioneers play at St. Norbert College on Sunday.
