GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's tennis team stayed perfect on the season Saturday, blanking Midwest Conference foes Illinois College and Monmouth College by 9-0 scores. 
 
Grinnell, 7-0 in the MWC and overall, got a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win against Illinois College from Sabrina Tang '23 at No. 2 singles. Other singles winners were Abby Nielsen '21 at No. 1 (6-0, 6-2), Ali Hickey '21 at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1), Sophia de los Reyes '23 at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0), Josephine Blumenthal '23 at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) and Mamie Sevier '23 at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0). 
 
In doubles play, winners were the duos of Nielsen-Hickey (8-3), Izzy Green '22-Guan (8-1) and Sevier-Blumenthal (8-1). 
 
More than half of Grinnell's wins against Monmouth were shutouts, including four in singles by Tang at No. 1, Nielsen at No. 2, Green at No. 4 and Emma Gaydos '22 at No. 5. The other shutout came from de los Reyes and Tang at No. 2 doubles. 
 
De los Reyes won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Guan posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No 6. Hickey and Nielsen teamed up to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and Green and Guan won 8-2 at No. 3. 
 
During the day, Guan moved up to 14th on Grinnell's career doubles chart with 52 while Nielsen moved up to 16th with 49. Guan and Hickey are 24th and 25th in career singles wins with 34 and 33, respectively. 
 
Grinnell can clinch a share of the MWC title Sunday at Knox College.
