Grinnell women's tennis team kicks off 2019 spring campaign against Bethel

MINNEAPOLIS – After a 4-1/2-month hiatus since the fall season, the Grinnell College women's tennis team kicked off its 2019 spring campaign Saturday morning against Bethel College.
 
Bethel came away with an 8-1 victory over the Pioneers, with Grinnell's win being a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles by Sara Amano '22. Lily Hamilton '19 had a thriller at No. 5, playing her foe to within 7-5, 6-4, and Abby Nielsen '21 bounced back from a 6-2 loss in the first set at No. 1 to nearly pull out the second set, losing 7-6 (7-4).
 
Grinnell, 9-3 on the season, is off until its spring break trip to Florida in two weeks. Bethel improved to 5-1 with the win.
