GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College not only won Friday's women's tennis match with Central College, but did so in dominating fashion with a 9-0 decision on the Bear Center Field House courts.
 
The Pioneers surrendered just 16 games while winning 96 on their way to improving to 14-6 on the season. The victory total is tied for 10th-best in program history. Central fell to 11-10 with the loss.
 
Grinnell rolled through doubles, with victories by the teams of 
Abby Nielsen '21-
Brenda Guan '20 (8-2), 
Judith Fan '19-
Isabel Green '22 (8-4) and 
Lily Hamilton '19-
Sara Amano '22 (8-1).
 
The Pioneers posted straight-set wins in singles, including a 6-0, 6-0 shutout by Fan at No. 4. Nielsen and 
Emma Gaydos '22 each won 6-1, 6-0 at Nos. 1 and 2, while Green posted a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 3. Hamilton won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 and Amano gained a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6.
 
Green now has 23 doubles wins this season, fourth-best in program history. Nielsen ranks eighth in singles wins in a season with 22 and Amano is 17th with 19.
 
On the career chart, Hamilton moved up to 12th in doubles victories with 53 and Fan is 13th with 52. Fan is also 14th for career singles wins with 45.
 
The Pioneers take to the road Saturday for a test against regionally-ranked Augustana College. Action in Rock Island, Ill., begins at 2 p.m.
