Augustana 6, Grinnell 3

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Grinnell battled on even terms with regionally-ranked Augustana College in singles play Saturday, but the Vikings swept doubles play to earn a 6-3 non-conference win.
 
The Pioneers' victories came at the Nos. 4 through 6 spots with Judith Fan '19, Lily Hamilton '19 and Sara Amano '22. Fan swept her foe 6-2, 6-2, while Hamilton and Amano both rallied to win three-set marathons. Hamilton was victorious by a 2-6, 6-4, 10-2 decision and Amano earned a 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory.
 
Fan is now 11th on Grinnell's career singles wins list with 46 and Amano moved up to 12th for singles wins in a season with 20. Grinnell is 14-6 on the season, while the Vikings - ranked 11th in the Central Region - are 17-4
 
The Pioneers return to the home court next Saturday to face the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Coe College.
