GRINNELL, Iowa – A force year in and year out in the Midwest Conference, the Grinnell College women's tennis team is continuing that run in 2019.

The Pioneers opened their MWC slate at the Grinnell College Tennis Complex Saturday with a pair of shutouts, blanking Lawrence University and St. Norbert College by 9-0 scores. Grinnell has won 30 of its last 31 MWC matches going back to 2015.

Sabrina Tang '23,
Abby Nielsen '21 and
Izzy Green '22 were all three-time winners for the Pioneers, who are 2-0 overall.

In the Lawrence match, Grinnell opened with doubles wins by the duos of Nielsen-Tang (8-0),
Ali Hickey '21-
Sophia de los Reyes '23 (8-1) and Green-
Brenda Guan '20 (8-2).

Grinnell finished the victory with singles decisions by Nielsen (6-0, 6-0), Tang (6-0, 6-0), Hickey (6-1, 6-0), Green (6-0, 6-1),
Emma Gaydos '22 (6-2, 6-0) and
Josephine Blumenthal '23 (4-6, 6-0, 10-6).

Grinnell kept it up in the St. Norbert match, beginning with doubles wins by Tang-Nielsen (8-1), Hickey-de los Reyes (8-1) and Green-Guan (8-2).

In singles, wins were by Tang (6-0, 6-0), Nielsen (6-0, 6-1), de los Reyes (6-2, 6-2), Green (6-1, 6-2), Gaydos (6-2, 6-0) and Blumenthal, who won her second three-setter of the day by scores of 6-1, 6-7, 10-6.

Grinnell remains home Sunday with a 3 p.m. match against Ripon College.
