Grinnell tandems sweep Midwest Conference doubles titles

MADISON, Wis. - Grinnell College made it a clean sweep of doubles at the Midwest Conference Tennis Tournament Saturday.

Grinnell duos won all three doubles flights contested at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Sabrina Tang '23 teamed with Irene Agusti '24 to win at No. 1, Sophia de los Reyes '23 and Mira Manchanda '24 were victorious in the second slot and Ioanna Giannakou '24 and Erin Jarvis '25 took top honors at No. 3.

De Los Reyes has now won three MWC titles, having claimed the No. 4 singles crown and No. 2 doubles championship in 2019. Tang has two MWC crowns, teaming with de los Reyes for the 2019 doubles title.

Tang and Agusti had a first-round bye, won 8-2 over a duo from Illinois College and then beat the third seed from Lawrence University 8-2.

De los Reyes and Manchanda also had a bye, then posted wins of 8-1 over a duo from Cornell College and defeated the second seed from Lake Forest College 8-4.

After receiving a bye, Giannakou and Jarvis won 8-1 against a duo from Ripon College and then blanked the second seed from Lake Forest 8-0.

The MWC singles tourney will be Sunday.
