GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's tennis team clinched the Midwest Conference South Division regular-season title Sunday by stopping Illinois College 9-0 at 10th Avenue Courts.

The Pioneers, who are 48-1 in league play since the 2015-16 season, started on a strong note with 8-0 shutouts by the three doubles units of

Irene Agusti '24-
Mira Manchanda '24 and
Ali Hickey '21-
Josephine Blumenthal '23.

Emma Gaydos '22 posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win at No. 5 singles. Rounding out the singles winners were Agusti at No. 1 (6-2, 6-1), Manchanda at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), Hickey at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0),
Sophia de los Reyes '23 at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1) and
Mamie Sevier '23 at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0). Hickey now owns 41 career singles wins, which ranks 17th in program history.

Grinnell, 4-0 both in the MWC South and overall, has a first-round bye in the league tourney. The Pioneers will entertain either Illinois College or Monmouth College in the MWC South title match next Sunday.
