WHITEWATER, Wis. – Grinnell College's women's tennis team had never beaten Luther College in 14 previous meetings entering the NCAA Division III National Tournament opener.

But that was all about to change when the teams squared off at Wangerin Courts on Friday. The Pioneers, who dominated their competition all of 2021, continued that trend by blanking the Norse 5-0 to move into Saturday's second round.

While this marks Grinnell's 10
th trip to the NCAAs, it's just the fourth time the Pioneers have advanced to the second round. They are now 7-0 and riding a 19-match winning streak dating back to 2019.

Grinnell sailed through doubles play with wins from the duos of
Ioanna Giannakou '24-
Sabrina Tang '23 at No. 1 (8-4),
Mira Manchanda '24-
Irene Agusti '24 at No. 2 (8-3) and
Ali Hickey '21-
Sophia de los Reyes '23 at No. 3 (8-4).

Grinnell finished off the win at Nos. 5 and 3 singles with and Hickey (6-0, 6-1) and Agusti 6-0, 6-2.

Hickey's decisions allowed her to continue climbing up Grinnell's career winning charts. She has 43 career singles victories, 16
th-best for the Pioneers, and her 42 doubles wins rank 25
th.

Grinnell is right back at it Saturday with a second-round matchup against Kenyon College. Action begins at 11 a.m.
