LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – Grinnell College's women's tennis team put up a strong showing in the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament Saturday, but the region's top-ranked team proved too tough.

Kenyon College, rated first in the Central Region and 12
th nationally, eked out three wins in doubles play and sealed the victory in singles to win 5-0 and improve to 9-0 while moving into the third round.

Grinnell's
Ali Hickey '21 finished her storied career as the career doubles percentage leader for the Pioneer program, winning at an .808 clip.

Grinnell's
Ioanna Giannakou '24 and
Sabrina Tang '23 gave a great test to the top-ranked doubles team in the region, taking three games from them in an 8-3 loss at No. 1.
Mira Manchanda '24 and
Irene Agusti '24 Â lost an 8-2 decision at No. 2, while Hickey and
Sophia de los Reyes '23 lost 8-1 at No. 3.

Giannakou lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to the Central Region's top-ranked player. Agusti fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

Abby Nielsen '21 wound up 15
th on Grinnell's career doubles wins chart with 53, while Hickey ranks 25
th with 42 doubles wins. Nielsen's career winning percentage in doubles of .663 ranks 21
st.

In singles, Hickey's .860 career winning percentage is second all-time and Nielsen's .825 mark is sixth. Nielsen finished fifth in career singles wins with 66 and Hickey was 16
th with 43.

Saturday's loss was Grinnell's only one of the season, as the Pioneers finish at 7-1.
