GRINNELL, Iowa – Fresh off a Midwest Conference title in the spring, the Grinnell College women's tennis team got its defense of that crown off to a perfect start Saturday.Â

The Pioneers opened MWC play with 9-0 home shutout wins over Ripon College and Lawrence University while improving to 4-0 overall. The wins moved Grinnell's consecutive victory streak against league foes to 17, dating back to the 2018-19 season.Â

Grinnell got an 8-0 doubles shutout against Ripon by the No. 2 duo of
Ioanna Giannakou '24 and
Sydney Marin '25, and 6-0, 6-0 singles shutouts by
Utsah Kalra '25 at No. 4 and
Erin Jarvis '25 at No. 5.Â

Sabrina Tang '23 and
Mira Manchanda '24 each won 6-0, 6-1 at the top two singles spots.
Lily Perrin '25 added a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 3 and
Kalea Martin earned a 6-0, 7-5 decision at No. 6.Â

In doubles, Tang and Perrin won at No. 1 and
Irene Agusti '24 and Jarvis at No.3, both by 8-1 scores.Â

Giannakou and Martin earned an 8-0 shutout victory at No. 1 doubles against Lawrence, while Marin posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 6 singles. Giannakou and Agusti each won 6-0, 6-1 at the top two singles spots, Manchanda earned a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 3, Perrin won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 and Jarvis rounded out the singles winners with a 6-1, 6-1 score at No. 5.Â

Tang and Kalra earned an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Manchanda and Marin sailed to an 8-1 victory at No. 3.Â
