Results

BELOIT, Wis. - Grinnell College's Paige Olowu '22 captured her second Midwest Conference title in as many years Friday, claiming top honors in the long jump at the league outdoor track and field meet meet.

Olowu leaped 16 feet, 8 ¾ inches at Strong Stadium to win by 3 inches. Her best jump came on the third and final leap of preliminary action. Last year, Olowu won the MWC South Division triple jump crown.

Friday's strong performance by Olowu and her teammates put Grinnell in the runner-up spot in the team standings with 50 points, just 8.5 behind leader Monmouth College.

Grinnell had a big showing in the 10,000, led by Mira Diamond-Berman's '25 runner-up finish in 42:13.29. Sophia Ford '25 and Ginger Mullen '25 were fifth and sixth in 45:44.72 and 48:52.57, respectively.

Sarina Kopf '22 was runner-up in the pole vault with a leap of 10-2, while Emma Schaefer '23 placed third in the 1500 in 4:57.87. Micaela Daney '22 added a fifth-place finish in the 1500 in 5:03.45.

Grace Marsh '25 placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 100-9, which ranks eighth in program history. Sara Booher '25 added a seventh-place finish in the shot put at 37-6 ¾, which is sixth all-time at Grinnell. Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 placed in the long jump, taking eighth at 15-4.

Grinnell also fared well in preliminary action, as runners in four events moved on to Saturday's finals. Sadie Staker '24 was the third-fastest in the 100 hurdles prelims in 17.18 and 400 hurdles with a time of 1:10.21.

Sonia Edassery '24 qualified second in the 400 with a time of 1:01.24, just missing Grinnell's all-time top 10, while Athena Frasca '23 ran 1:03.10 to qualify sixth.

Eva Carchidi '24 ran 26.94 in the 200 to qualify eighth. Carchidi didn't make the finals of the 100, but ran the eighth-fastest time in program history in 12.87.
