Grinnell women's track and field team keeps adding to all-time leader board at Fighting Scot Invite

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Grinnell College's women's track and field team continued its assault on the program's top 10 leader board at the Fighting Scot Invitational on Saturday.

Speedster Eva Carchidi '24 ran the 200-meter dash in 26.44 seconds, which ranks fifth all-time at Grinnell. She finished fourth in the event.

Sara Booher '25 came up big in the shot put with a toss of 35 feet, 5 inches, which is tied for 10th-best in Grinnell history. She was eighth in the event.

Emma Schaefer '23 continued her stellar season by winning the 1500 in 4:56.45, just missing the all-time top 10. Micaela Daney '22 was right behind in second place in 5:01.52, Lily Keane '22 placed seventh in 5:28.35 and Allison Rabbani '25 took eighth in 5:29.14.

Other runners-up besides Daney were Carchidi in the 100 (13.11), Sadie Staker '24 in the 400 hurdles (1:08.84) and Sarina Kopf '22 in the pole vault (10-2). Carchidi was third in the high jump with a leap of 4-8 ¼ and Merel Timmermans '22 had the same placing in the 3000 steeplechase in 13:41.40.

Placing fifth were Maile Crowe '25 in the 400 (1:04.88), Sam Reid '23 in the 800 (2:33.54) and Staker in the 100 hurdles (17.66). Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 and Eleanor Elliott-Rude 25 were sixth and eighth in the 800 in 2:34.26 and 2:39.61, respectively.

Aiyanna Rockwell '24 placed sixth in the discus at 119-1. Elliott-Rude just missed Grinnell's all-time top 10 in the long jump with a leap of 15-8 ¼. She was seventh in the event. Also placing seventh was Athena Frasca '23 in the 200 with a time of 27.31.

Grinnell, fourth place in the team standings with 87 points, will compete in the Midwest Conference Championships next weekend.
