GC women's swimming and diving team works past Macalester

Results

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Sophia Carroll '25 swam to four event victories and Camryn Gonzales '25 added three as Grinnell College's women's swimming and diving team nipped Macalester College 158.5-138.5 on Saturday.

Carroll won the 100-yard freestyle in 55.25 seconds, 200 freestyle in 1:58.53, 500 freestyle in 5:28.34 and was part of the champion 200 freestyle relay team that swam 1:41.93. Rounding out the relay team were Gonzales, Ciara Vogler '26 and Aliya Swearngin '25.

Gonzales added wins in the 100 and 200 butterflies in 59.65 and 2:14.18, respectively. Vogler was first in the 50 freestyle (25.74) and Sarah Lopez '26 was tops in the 100 backstroke (1:01.08, ranks 11th all-time at Grinnell) and 200 individual medley (2:17.59).

Lopez, Eva Cuevas '25, Gonzales and Kailee Shermak '25 were second in the 200 medley relay in 1:53.65. Other Grinnell runners-up were Greta Dunn '26 in the 1650 freestyle (19:40.02), Olivia Pluska '25 in the 100 backstroke (1:01.70), Cuevas in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.18), 200 breaststroke (2:33.06) and 200 individual medley (2:18.92), Sophie Juethner '26 in the 50 freestyle (25.93), Shermak in the 100 freestyle (56.51) and Lopez in the 200 backstroke (2:12.53).

Grinnell hosts a mini-invitational next Saturday.
