Grinnell women's swimming and diving team slips by Augustana to remain perfect

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College held off Augustana College 149-136 to remain unbeaten in women's swimming duals Saturday afternoon at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

Sarah Lopez '26 was a quadruple winner for the 4-0 Pioneers, placing first in the 200-yard butterfly in 2 minutes, 12.14 seconds, 100 butterfly in 1:00.68, 200 individual medley (2:15.47) and as part of the 400 medley relay with Molly Ryan '27, Eva Cuevas '25 and Ciara Vogler '26. Their time was 4:04.00.

Ryan was also first in the 100 and 200 backstrokes in 59.71 and 2:09.95, respectively. Those times are fifth and fourth in program history.

Cuevas added wins in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes in 1:10.71 and 2:31.56, while Jane Markovitz '26 took first in 1-meter diving with a score of 164.85.

Individual runners-up for Grinnell were Samantha Cook '27 in the 1000 freestyle (11:27.14), Genevieve Martinez '24 in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.46), Bella Kalb '27 in the 200 butterfly (2:12.51, which is 10th in program history), Vogler in the 50 freestyle (23.35), Maria Rossi '25 in 3-meter diving (158.70), Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 200 backstroke (2:19.60), Cuevas in the 200 individual medley (2:19.77) and Maree Elliott '24 in the 100 butterfly (1:03.23).

Grinnell hosts the Pioneer Classic on Dec. 1-2.
