Meet record highlights Grinnell women's performance at Pioneer Classic

GRINNELL, Iowa - A meet record highlighted a three-victory night for the Grinnell College women's swimming and diving team at the Pioneer Classic.

The quartet of Molly Ryan '27, Eva Cuevas '25, Sarah Lopez '26 and Ciara Vogler '26 teamed up to win the 400-yard medley relay in 3 minutes, 58.88 seconds Friday at Russell K. Osgood Pool. That time beat the previous mark of 4:01.73 set by Carleton College in 2019 and ranks 10th in program history.

Grinnell's other wins Friday came from Samantha Cook '27 in the 500 freestyle (5:19.76) and Cuevas in the 200 individual medley (2:13.15). Those times rank 15th and 16th in program history, respectively.

Runners-up for Grinnell were Lopez in the 200 individual medley (2:13.32), Vogler in the 50 freestyle (24.50) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Ryan, Vogler, Cook and Sophie Juethner '26 (1:39.54). Vogler's time ranks fifth in program history and the relay team's time is eighth.

Natasha Zettler '27 was third in the 500 freestyle in 5:26.37, while fourth place went to Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 500 freestyle (5:27.19) and Ryan in the 200 individual medley (2:17.24).

Juethner was fifth in the 50 freestyle (25.17), Genevieve Martinez '24 took seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:20.14) and Greta Dunn '26 was eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:32.14).

Diving was also contested Friday night but scores were still being counted.

The meet continues at 9 a.m. Saturday.
