Grinnell women have another big day at Pioneer Classic

Records

GRINNELL, Iowa - Two more meet records provided a big boost for the Grinnell College women's swimming and diving team on the final day of the Pioneer Classic Saturday.


Molly Ryan '27 had a hand in both marks at Russell K. Osgood Pool, setting a record in the 100-yard backstroke in 58.99 seconds and joining Ciara Vogler '26, Sarah Lopez '26 and Samantha Cook '27 to win the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 8:03.99. Ryan's 100 backstroke time ranks third in program history.

Ryan, Eva Cuevas '25, Lopez and Vogler also won the 200 medley relay in 1:49.65. Grinnell's other champs were Cuevas in the 400 individual medley (4:43.10), 100 breaststroke (1:08.65) and 200 breaststroke (2:26.72, fifth all-time at Grinnell), Cook in the 200 freestyle (1:58.68, 12th), Natasha Zettler '27 in the 1650 freestyle (18:47.26, 19th), Ryan in the 200 backstroke (2:09.31, fifth) and Lopez in the 200 butterfly (2:12.03).

Ryan, Cook, Lopez and Vogler were second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:38.89. Other runners-up were Lopez in the 400 individual medley (4:46.51), Ryan in the 100 butterfly (1:00.92, 19th all-time), Cook in the 1650 freestyle (18:53.45) and 200 butterfly (2:16.74), Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 200 backstroke (2:12.61), Vogler in the 100 freestyle (53.82) and Genevieve Martinez '24 in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.51).

Placing third were Stambaugh in the 400 individual medley (4:49.73), Maree Elliott '24 in the 100 butterfly (1:01.18), Olivia Pluska '25 in the 100 and 200 backstrokes (1:01.15 and 2:13.50, respectively) and Zettler in the 200 butterfly (2:16.83). Zettler's time is 18th in program history and Stambaugh's is 19th.

Fourth place went to Zettler in the 400 individual medley (4:55.30), Ava Rodriguez '26 in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.32, 19th all-time at Grinnell) Olivia Klein '24 in the 100 backstroke (1:01.94) and Beatrice Durham '27 in the 200 backstroke (2:16.23).
 
Placing fifth were Greta Dunn '26 in the 200 and 1650 freestyles (2:05.10 and 19:11.96), Martinez in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.39), Jenna Kollevoll '24 in the 100 backstroke (1:02.18) and Dorothy Anna Russell '24 in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.18).

Grinnell was second in the team standings with 1436 points, finishing only behind Gustavus Adolphus College's total of 1763.
