GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's swimming and diving team toppled three school records as well as a league record while taking the lead after Day 2 of the Midwest Conference Championships Saturday.

Of Grinnell's wins at Russell K. Osgood Pool, the most impressive came from the 200-yard medley relay tandem of Sarah Lopez '26, November Brown '23, Camryn Gonzales '25 and Ciara Vogler '26. Their time of 1:46.01 broke last year's MWC overall and championships mark of 1:46.82, set by Grinnell. That was also the school record.

Gonzales and Sophia Carroll '25 also set new school records with victories in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle, respectively. Gonzales claimed the butterfly in 56.71, topping Imelda Wistey's record of 57.01 established in 2011. Carroll's time of 1:53.22 in the freestyle bettered Beth Tsuha's mark of 1:54.10 established in 2017.

Grinnell's other win came from Eva Cuevas '25 in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:36.66, which ranks fourth in program history.

Those efforts helped Grinnell to 607 points in the meet, putting the Pioneers 22 ahead of first-day leader Lake Forest College.

Grinnell got a runner-up finish from the 800 freestyle relay team of Aliya Swearngin '25, Kailee Shermak '25, Greta Dunn '26 and Carroll. Their time of 7:57.41 ranks 10th in program history.
