GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's swimming and diving team showed again that depth is the best asset for winning titles.

Despite not winning any of the six events contested Sunday, Grinnell churned its way to a repeat crown at the Midwest Conference Championships at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

Grinnell sent MWC Coach of the Year
Erin Hurley into retirement on a high note while winning their 22
nd MWC title in the last 24 years and 26
th overall.

The Pioneers knew it would be a battle with Lake Forest College for top honors, and that proved to be the case. Grinnell edged the Foresters 863.5 to 860.5 for the win.

The Pioneers claimed three runner-up crowns on Sunday, those coming from
Ciara Vogler '26 in the 100-yard freestyle (53.55, sixth all-time at Grinnell),
Sarah Lopez '25 in the 200 butterfly (2:12.33) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Vogler,
Kailee Shermak '25,
November Brown '23 and
Sophia Carroll '25 (3:34.82, sixth in program history).

Carroll was third in the 1650 freestyle in 18:06.19, the same placing as
Eva Cuevas '25 in the 200 breaststroke. Cuevas' time was 2:28.57, which ranks fifth in program history.

Placing fourth were
Olivia Pluska '25 in the 200 backstroke (2:08.72, third in GC history), Brown in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.91) and
Camryn Gonzales '25 in the 200 butterfly (2:13.42). Fifth place went to
Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 200 backstroke (2:09.25, fourth all-time at Grinnell), Shermak in the 100 freestyle (54.13) and
Genevieve Martinez '24 in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.57, 10
th all-time at GC).

Greta Dunn '26 was sixth in the 1650 freestyle in 18:42.63, the 17
th-best time in program history. Also placing sixth was
Aliya Swearngin '25 in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.19.

Olivia Klein '24 was eighth in the 200 backstroke in 2:15.75, though her time of 2:13.30 in the prelims ranks 11
th in GC history.
