Grinnell women claim MWC All-Sports Trophy for 2nd year in a row

Pioneer men and women combine for most overall points, as well.

All-Sports Trophy Standings

GRINNELL, Iowa – For the second year in a row, Grinnell College's women's athletic teams have earned the Midwest Conference's All-Sports Championship.
 
The Pioneers defended the Ralph Shively Trophy, named for the former MWC Commissioner, by tallying 67.5 points. That put them 13.5 points ahead of runners-up Cornell College and Ripon College.
 
Additionally, Grinnell's combined men's and women's point total of 126.5 points led all schools in the MWC. Ripon was second in the overall standings with 117.5 points.

All-Sports points are awarded on a 9-8-7, etc. basic in all sports.  For soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis, places are determined by regular-season standings. In football and baseball, places are determined by finish, skipping over affiliate member Chicago. Standings in all other sports are determined by points earned at the sports championship meet.

Grinnell's women claimed 2022-23 MWC titles in soccer, tennis and swimming and diving and tied for first in softball. The Pioneers were second in cross country, third in volleyball and fourth in both indoor and outdoor track and field.
 
Grinnell's men finished second in their division with 59 points, just 4.5 behind Ripon.Grinnell's men captured titles in swimming and diving and tennis, placed second in soccer, cross country and outdoor track and field and third in indoor track and field.
