Grinnell women swim to another Invite championship

GRINNELL, Iowa - Another stellar day helped the host school claim its third Grinnell Invitational women's swimming and diving title in a row Saturday at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

The Pioneers piled up 1,294.5 points to beat runner-up St. Catherine University, which had 741. Grinnell has now won three Invite titles in a row.

Grinnell won both relays contested Saturday, as Molly Ryan '27, Genevieve Martinez '24, Sarah Lopez '26 and Ciara Vogler '26 swam the 200-yard medley in 1 minute, 49.43 seconds and Sophia Carroll '25, Kailee Shermak '25, Samantha Cook '27 and Vogler won the 400 freestyle in 3:37.33. Both relay times rank 10th in program history.

Other Grinnell champs were Lopez in the 400 individual medley (4:36.45, fourth in program history), Carroll in the 200 freestyle (1:57.37) and Camryn Gonzales '25 in the 100 butterfly (58.18).

Grinnell's runners-up were Carroll in the 1650 freestyle (18:27.61), Cook in the 200 freestyle (1:57.95, eighth in program history), Ryan in the 200 backstroke (2:09.72) and Vogler in the 50 freestyle (24.55). Lopez placed third in the 200 backstroke in 2:10.79, a time that ranks sixth in program history.

Shermak and Gonzales were fourth in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle in 1:00.77 and 25.04, respectively. The latter time is 19th in program history.

Sixth place went to Ryan in the 200 freestyle (2:01.73), Martinez in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.63) and Regan Stambaugh '26 in the 400 individual medley (4:52.56) and 200 backstroke (2:13.98).
