School-record performance highlights day for Grinnell women's track and field team at Point Loma Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Eva Carchidi '24 broke her own school record in the 100-meter dash while leading the Grinnell College women's track and field team at Saturday's Point Loma Invitational.

Carchidi finished fourth in the race in 12.27 seconds, beating her previous best of 12.32 established last year. Carchidi's time ranks sixth nationally.

Carchidi also anchored the 4x100 relay team to the second-best time in program history. With Jessica Goodman '26, Ava Taylor '25 and Maile Crowe '25 joining her, the quartet finished fifth in 49.97.

Kylie Galowitz '26 had a big day in the throws, including a championship in the hammer with a toss of 37.87 meters. That effort is fifth all-time at Grinnell. Maddy Strovers '26 was fourth in the event at 34.12 meters.

Galowitz was second in the shot put (10.44 meters) and sixth in the discus (32.51 meters). Aiyana Rockwell '24 placed third in the discus with a throw of 33.77 meters.

Carchidi was fourth in the 200 in 25.86, Mira Vollmayr-Lee '26 placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 8.96 meters and Hannah Roark '26 took seventh in the 1500 in 4:54.96.

Grinnell's 4x400 relay team of Sadie Staker '24, Allison Rabbani '25, Brooke Kreeger '27 and Caitlin Ong '26 was fifth in 4:31.38.

Goodman also ran 16.76 in the 100 hurdles in 16.76, the fifth-best time in program history.
