CHICAGO, Ill. - Grinnell College's baseball team struck first, but the University of Chicago scored eight unanswered runs in an 8-3 Midwest Conference victory by the Maroons Sunday.

Grinnell's seven-hit attack was led by Mac McCain '25 and Ben Kelly '25, who each had two hits. McCain moved up to sixth on Grinnell's career hits list with 158.

Jackson Gutta '27 had a strong starting pitching performance, striking out four and giving up five hits in 6.1 innings.

The Pioneers attempted a rally in the ninth, scoring twice on McCain's RBI double to right and an RBI groundout by Ethan Crawford '25. In the field, Crawford jumped to eighth in the career putouts list with 517.
