LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Grinnell College's softball team will look to defend its Midwest Conference Tournament title this weekend as the Pioneers head to Lake Forest College for the four-team event.
 
Grinnell, 24-14 overall and 13-3 in the Midwest Conference, is the second seed and will play third-seeded Illinois College at 10 a.m. Friday. The Lady Blues are 19-20 overall and 12-4 in the MWC.
 
At noon, top-seeded Lake Forest College will face fourth-seeded Cornell College. Two more games will be played Friday before action continues to Saturday.
 
Grinnell and Illinois College split games last Saturday, with the Lady Blues winning the opener 7-5 before the Pioneers rallied for a 9-0, five-inning victory.
 
The tournament champion will advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
