Grinnell track and field teams head to Illinois for Midwest Conference Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The men's and women's squads from Grinnell College head to the campus of Illinois College this weekend for the 2024 Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

The meet begins at 12:30 p.m. Friday with the men's hammer throw and continues throughout the afternoon. Action kicks back in Saturday with the women's hammer at 10:30 a.m.

Grinnell's women hold down the league's top ranking in two events, Eva Carchidi '24 in the 100-meter dash and Juniper Schwartzman '27 in the javelin.

Carchidi is second in both the 200 and 400, the same ranking as Keely Miyamoto '26 in the 10,000 and Hannah Roth '27 in the 3000 steeplechase. Miyamoto is fourth in the steeplechase and Diana Barba '26 is fifth.

Hannah Roark '26 ranks fourth in the 1500 and Morgan Karow '26 is fifth in the 5000. Jessie Goodman '26 is fifth in both the 100 and 400 hurdles. Kylie Galowitz '26 is seeded fourth in the shot put and Sara Booer '25 is fifth. Aiyana Rockwell '24 ranks fifth in the discus.

Grinnell's 4x100 relay team ranks third and the 4x400 squad is fourth.

On the men's side, Grinnell athletes have the top-ranked performances in four events, including Brian Goodell '24 in the 3000 steeplechase, 5000 and 10,000 runs. Lucas Fadden '26 is seeded first in the 100 and is fifth in the 200.

Luca Fornari '25 and Ian Clawson '26 are ranked second in the pole vault and hammer throw, respectively. Xavier James '25 is third in the 400 hurdles, the same ranking as Casey Oliveira '27 in the triple jump. Murphy Dykstra '27 is fourth in the triple jump.

Bradley Ramsey '24 is fourth in the 10,000 and fifth in the 5000. Connor Heagy '26 ranks fifth in the 1500 and Jack Novelle '26 is fifth in the high jump.
