Grinnell women capture pair of event titles at Hilltop Invitational

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - A pair of Grinnell College women's track and field athletes captured titles at the Cornell College Hilltop Invitational Saturday.

Rajanea Landers '28 won the long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters, while Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 was first in the 3000-meter run in 11 minutes, 4.29 seconds.

Grinnell got a runner-up finish from Tennyson Shultz '28 in the 800 with a time of 2:27.70. Noelle Vu '28, Emily Summers '29 and Carolina Corcoran '29 were fourth through sixth in 2:29.21, 2:31.07 and 2:33.00, respectively.

Also garnering runner-up honors was Arushi Kharbanda '29 in the 3000 with a time of 11:19.25. She was followed by third-place finisher Katya Lackey '27, who ran 11:59.32.

Landers was third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.51 meters and Kate Solano '29 was fourth at 10.24. Those jumps are third and sixth in program history.

Solano added a third-place finish in the 200 in 27.79 and Steph Kama-Kama '28 had the same placing in the high jump with a leap of 1.51 meters. Morgan Karow '26 was fourth in the mile with a time of 5:19.68 and Keelin Swisher '29 was fourth in the 60 in 8.19. Kirsten Kelly '29 was fifth in the high jump at 1.46 meters and Lily Mayo '28 took sixth in the long jump at 4.41 meters.

The 4x400 relay team of Summers, Solano, Vu and Shultz placed third in 4:16.14.

Also for Grinnell, Kylie Galowitz '26 unleashed a toss of 14.17 meters in the weight throw. That is good for third on the all-time GC chart.

Grinnell was third of eight teams with 107 points. Augustana College won the meet with 165.
