WAVERLY, Iowa – Competing against some of the best competition in the region, including the second-ranked team in the nation, Grinnell College's cross country team raced to a sixth-place finish at the Wartburg Dan Huston/Steve Johnson Invitational on Saturday.

Ben Abelow '28 led the Pioneers, touring the 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 30.0 seconds. He was 46
th place of nearly 300 runners.
Luke Robinson '26 was close behind in 60
th place with a time of 26:49.2 and
Jack Lakin '29 was 66
th in 26:56.7.

Grinnell, ranked ninth in the Midwest Region, tallied 209 points. Host Wartburg College, ranked second nationally and first in the region, was first with 23 points and Simpson College, the seventh-ranked team in the region, took second with 112.

The individual collegiate champ was Isaiah Hammerand of Wartburg, who finished in 24:16.2.
