Grinnell men's golf team finishes fall campaign on strong note by taking 3rd at Central meet

PELLA, Iowa - Grinnell College's men's golf team prepped itself well for its spring season, finishing the fall campaign with a stellar showing at the Central Fall Classic.


The Pioneers finished third of 16 teams at the meet, following up Monday's big round with a 315 Tuesday for an overall score of 616. That 36-hole tally ranks ninth in program history.
 
Highlighting the day for the Pioneers were Spencer Moody '29 and Everett Williams '29. Moody shot a 2-over-par 74 for an overall score of 148, good for fourth place in the field of 87 golfers. He had three birdies on the day. Williams recorded an ultra-rare eagle, doing so on the par-5, 522-yard second hole. He also had a birdie in his round to finish at 79, giving him a two-day total of 155. That was good for 11th place.

Roger Smith '28 shot 80 on Tuesday with the aid two birdies, giving him an overall score of 156 for 17th place. Max Shin '29 had three birdies and shot 82, while Harrison Elliott '29 and Josh Udelson '29 each had one birdie while shooting 85 and 89, respectively. Udelson finished with a 164, Shin shot 171 and Elliott added a 174.

The University of Dubuque was the team champion with a 598 and had the individual champ in John Dobbe, who shot 144.
