GRINNELL, Iowa – With plenty of firepower back from last season, Grinnell College's women's cross country team is seeking big things in 2025.
"Two seniors,
Morgan Karow '26 and
Hannah Roark '26, will be up front leading our squad and close behind them are
Tennyson Shultz '28,
Sindri Bonner '28 and
Cindy Wang '28," said Grinnell coach
Sarah Burnell. "
Talia Harrison '26 is running strong after coming back from injury and
Genevieve Madigan '28 is right there, too. It's a strong pack – there are only 20 seconds between Tennyson and Genevieve at this point."
Karow ran the fourth-fastest time in program history last season, Roark the 15th and Madigan the 20th. Additionally,
Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 moved up to 43rd all-time and Shultz 48th. All five were All-MWC honorees last season, while Karow, Harrison and Roark also earned the award in 2023. Roark, Harrison and
Diana Barba '26 were honorees the year before that, as well.
Burnell added that newcomers who look promising early on include
Carolina Corcoran '29,
Lizzie Drew '29 and
Ella McEntee '29.
"We are a really deep team," said Burnell. "Our top 12 could be shuffling all year long, which will serve us really well. I think the team is ready to take the next step, and winning the Midwest Conference title would be part of that. If they're willing to be brave and put it on the line after that meet, they could be knocking on the door of qualifying for nationals. We haven't been that far away in recent years."
