Pioneer women's tennis team has pair of entries advance to round of 16 at ITA Regional

ST. PETER, Minn. - A pair of Grinnell College women's tennis entries advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Regional Tournament Saturday.

Keira Healy '28 made the round of 16 in singles play, while Pari Chavan '27 and Logan Tom '29 did so in doubles.

Healy opened play with a 6-0, 4-6, 10-7 victory over a foe from Luther College, and followed with wins of 7-5, 6-3 against the 17th-seeded player from Cornell College and 3-6, 7-6, 11-9 decision over the ninth seed from Gustavus Adolphus College. Healy was eliminated by the fifth seed from Carthage College.

Chavan and Tom, the ninth seed in doubles, beat foes from Hamline 8-0 and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-3 before losing to the fifth seed from Gustavus Adolphus.

Grinnell singles players advancing to the round of 32 were Chavan, Anika Sheth '26, Luiza Kohn '29, Eliana Martin '29, Tom and Isa Voinescu '26. Marta Gonzalez '29, Tan Mukherjee '26 and Nichole Henning '26 advanced to the round of 64.

GC doubles teams making the round of 32 were the duos of Paige Sargent '27-Voinescu and Gonzalez-Mukherjee.

In the corresponding Gustie Invite, Grinnell had champs in Doyeon Kim '29 (No. 2 singles) and the duo of Martin-Kayla Surpless '28 (No. 4 doubles).
