Grinnell men's golf team shows significant improvement on final day of Saint John's Invite

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Grinnell College's men's golf team showed drastic improvement on the final day of the 2025 Saint John's Fall Invitational Sunday.


After opening the two-day event at Blackberry Ridge Country Club with a 321, the Pioneers improved by 20 strokes with a 301 Sunday. That gave Grinnell an overall total of 622, pushing the Pioneers up the team standings into 14th place. The two-day score ranks 12th in program history.

Four Pioneers shot in the 70s Sunday, with Roger Smith's '28 even-par 72 leading the charge. He posted five birdies on the day and finished with an overall score of 150, the same as teammate Spencer Moody '29. Moody, with one birdie on Sunday, finished the day with a 73.

Everett Williams '29 and Max Shin '29 each fired 78s on Sunday, with the latter posting two birdies. Williams had a two-day score of 160 and Shin finished at 162. 

Josh Udelson '29 added an 81 Sunday and Harrison Elliott '29 added an 89. Udelson's final two-day score was 168 and Elliott finished with a 183.

Carleton College won the tourney with a 569 and had the individual champ in Sam Higaki, who shot 136.

Grinnell finishes the fall portion of its 2025-26 season Oct. 6-7 at the Central College Fall Invite.
