GRINNELL, Iowa – After posting its best start to a season since 1993, Grinnell College's men's soccer team has swept the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honors.
 
Samuel Gojjam '27 was named the MWC Offensive Performer of the Week, while Jack Alexander '29 repeated as Defensive Performer of the Week.
 
Gojjam, a forward from Cambridge, Mass. (Cambridge Rindge Latin), was a scoring machine while helping Grinnell to a pair of victories. His goal in the 75^th minute lifted Grinnell over Central College 4-1, and his goals in the second and 50^th minutes propelled the Pioneers past Monmouth College 4-0.  Gojjam ranks second in the league in goals per game with .833 and points per game with 2.17.
 
Alexander, from Catskill, N.Y. (Phillips Academy), continued his stingy performance at keeper by holding teams to no goals in 158 minutes of action. He posted two saves while working 81 minutes against Central and had three saves in 77 minutes against Monmouth. Alexander leads the league in goals against average (0.36), save percentage (.885) and shutouts (2).
 
Grinnell owns a perfect 6-0 mark this season.
