Lake Forest ekes out 1-0 victory over Grinnell men's soccer team

Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Grinnell College came up with a strong effort against top-seeded Lake Forest College Friday afternoon in the 2012 Midwest Conference Tournament.

But in the end, the Foresters used a second-half goal to eke out a 1-0 semifinal-round victory. The Foresters, ranked 10th in the North Region, advanced to Saturday's title game with a 15-3-1 mark where will play Carroll University.

With the setback, Grinnell finishes its campaign with a 9-8-1 record.

The shots battle was nearly even, with the hosts holding a 9-7 edge after each team fired off four shots in the first half. Jay Dreier '13 and Victor Ghazal '16 had two shots each for the Pioneers, while Pun Winichakul '13, Rockne Decoster '15 and Omeed Kashef '14 managed one each.

Keeper Isaiah Tyree '15 had four saves for Grinnell.
