Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's soccer team returned to its winning ways Saturday, shutting out Monmouth College 2-0 at Springer Field.
Joseph Brown '15 and
Benjamin Warner '15 both scored goals for the Pioneers, who improved to 2-3 in the Midwest Conference and 4-8 in all games. Monmouth fell to 1-5 in the league and 3-10-1 overall.
Brown scored in the 17th minute, his fourth goal of the season. On the play, Brown made a series of moves on his defender on the inside of the box, got a step on the defender and fired a crossing shot into the far side of the net.
Victor Ghazal '16 was credited with the assist.
Warner scored his second goal of the season in the 69th minute when he received a pass from
Elliot Meyer '16 on the far side, took a few dribbles and fired a shot across to the near post for the score.
The Pioneers won the shots battle 17-4, with Ghazal and Brown taking five apiece, Warner getting two and Meyer,

David Leitson '17 taking one each.
Major May '17 played the entire game at keeper and had three saves.
Grinnell is back at Springer Field Sunday to take on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in non-conference action. The kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.
