Pioneer netters drop 2 matches at ACM Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DECORAH, Iowa – Grinnell College's volleyball team lost its final two matches of the ACM Tournament Sunday at Luther College.

The Pioneers fell 25-9, 25-13 and 25-14 to Lawrence University and won a set against Lake Forest College in a 25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-17 setback.

Claire Weidman '15 was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Pioneers, who fell to 0-14. She had six kills against Lawrence, as did Olivia Fromm '17. Lindsay Fujimoto '15 and Jeanette Au '16 had 10 and six assists, respectively, while Fujimoto also served up two aces.

Emma Knatterud-Johnson '15 tallied 12 digs and Evelyn Weidman '17 came up with two digs.

In the Lake Forest match, Claire Weidman had 12 kills and had a .286 hitting efficiency. Au and Fujimoto had 15 and 14 assists, respectively, and Claire Weidman came up with two aces.

Sydney McClendon '16 tallied 19 digs and Evelyn Weidman and Liz Nelson '17 had two blocks apiece.

The Pioneers return to the friendly confines of Darby Gymnasium this coming Friday for the Grinnell Invitational. The Pioneers meet Buena Vista University at 5 p.m. and William Penn University at 9 p.m. Buena Vista and William Penn play at 7 p.m.
