Unbeaten Simpson tops Grinnell men's soccer team

Box Score INDIANOLA, Iowa – Despite tying the shots battle 19-all, the Grinnell College men's soccer team lost a 5-1 decision at unbeaten Simpson College on Wednesday.

The Pioneers' goal came in the 71st minute when Joseph Brown '15 connected for his second score of the season on an assist by Omeed Kashef '14.

Simpson broke out to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to improving to 6-0-1. Grinnell is now 2-4.

Brown, Victor Ghazal '16 and Marshall Botto '15 had three of Grinnell's shots, while Elliot Meyer '15, Rockne Decoster '15 and Benjamin Warner '15 had two apiece.

Isaiah Tyree '15 and Major May '17 split time at keeper for Grinnell. Each had two saves.

Grinnell has a big weekend coming up, hosting preseason Midwest Conference favorite Lake Forest College at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Carroll University at the same time Sunday.
