Grinnell falls in tight battle with preseason MWC favorite Lake Forest

Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell College men's soccer team put up a strong fight against preseason Midwest Conference favorite Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon, but the Foresters ended up squeaking out a 1-0 victory at Springer Field.

The lone goal of the game came in the 36th minute from last season's MWC Player of the Year, Mahir Mameledzija.

Lake Forest won the shots battle 9-5. Joseph Brown '15 had four of Grinnell's shots and Elliot Meyer '15 the other.

Isaiah Tyree '15 played keeper for Grinnell and made two saves.

Lake Forest is now 1-0 in the league and 3-4 in all contests, while Grinnell dipped to 0-1 in MWC play and 2-5 overall.

Grinnell entertains Carroll University Sunday at Springer Field, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
